June 22, 2010: Resales Down Nationwide, But Improving In ColoradoAccording to the just released report from the National Association of Realtors, May home resales nationwide dropped 2.2% from April. However, when you breakdown the statistics by region, we find that while sales declined 18% in the Northeast, and were flat in the Midwest, sales in the West (which includes Colorado) were up 5%. Furthermore, the inventory of unsold homes on the market dropped 3.4% nationwide; and the median sales rose 2.7% from a year ago. Indeed for us in this area of Colorado, all of this is good news.
On the local level: In the Conifer/Pine area sales for May were up 19% from April, and up 8% from May, 2009; In Evergreen, May sales were down 12% from April, but were up a dramatic 33% from May, 2009.
