September 21, 2010; Housing Starts Up And Prices Stabilize In Evergreen Housing starts rose 10.5 percent for August from July, the largest increase since November 2009, and were up 2.2 percent from a year ago. And home completions increased 5.6 percent from July. Furthermore, new building permits were up 1.8 percent from July, after a 4.1 percent drop in July.
The real estate market in the Evergreen area appears to be stabilizing. Prices were down 10.11 percent for the Evergreen area from August 2008 to August 2009; and were down only 5.53 percent from August 2009 to August 2010. Furthermore, year to date sales of single family homes in Evergreen are up 10.77 percent from August 2009. So, while prices are still a little weak, and less so now than in the beginning of the year, activity is definitely improving.
